Adult Classes

Each class will last approximately one hour and will be suitable for all levels of experience.  We will be on our feet for most of the practice, so this may be a consideration.

No mats or props are needed, and I would suggest comfortable clothing that allows you to raise your legs and arms to some extent.  Practice will include tuning into the environment and letting go of the responsibilities of the day to focus on yourself and your sense of well-being.

We will include some pranayama/breathwork and then move into movement sets in different parts of the conservancy.  Movement will look to allow ease in the body, both by encouraging a range of motion and strength building to any degree that suits you on the day of the practice.  I will offer a range of options so that you can work to the level that suits your best.

Adult class size is limited to 8.

Children’s Classes

This is suggested for ages 5-8 with one adult for each child. (Adults are welcome to participate but do not have to. However they must stay for the entire class).  If there are older age groups interested we can look at adding a class.

Each class will be 45 min.  (If we find that the children would like more we can adjust to an hour.) The focus in the children’s classes will be on playful movement to stretch and strengthen. No mats or props are needed.  We will practice yoga poses and incorporate games to take advantage of the open spaces and bring in a little age appropriate cardio work. We will also use mindfulness techniques to encourage self awareness and a sense of community.

If the weather is cold, make sure children dress appropriately.

Children’s classes are limited to 8 children but each student can be accompanied by a participating adult.

Forest Bathing

In both the adult and children’s classes I hope to bring in an element of the Japanese tradition of Forest Bathing – taking moments to connect with this very special landscape using quiet contemplation and poetry or prose.

Anne Dawson’s Training

I completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training and the children’s yoga training with Circle Yoga. I led the after school yoga program at Maret for several years and am currently enrolled with Circle Yoga’s 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training.   I am also a certified Wilderness First Responder through the NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute.
