In April, in honor of Earth Day, the McLean Garden Babysitting Coop sponsored a clean-up service project at Rosedale. The Coop, which is a group of families living in the NW DC area (north of Georgetown, south of Chevy Chase, and generally between Connecticut Avenue and New Mexico Avenue) that volunteer to “sit” for each other. The Coop is a community group for families to get to know and support each other and exchange points (instead of money) for sits.
Each month, there is a get-together and for April, the Coop decided to celebrate Earth Day, teach our children some lessons about cleaning up and conservancy, and provide a thank you to Rosedale for the great green space it provides the community. The Coop members (young and “older”) picked an area under a set of trees in the middle of the park to de-weed. After de-weeding (2 large garbage bags worth), the kids enjoyed the open green space and the beginnings of spring.
