Plein Air Drawing Meet-Up at Rosedale
June 13 @ 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Join the Cleveland Park Historical Society and Rosedale Conservancy for an afternoon of plein air drawing on the beautiful Rosedale grounds.
Guided by artist Jorge Vara Hernandez and presented in partnership with Washington Studio School, this outdoor meet-up invites participants of all ages and skill levels to slow down, observe, and creatively engage with one of Cleveland Park’s most treasured landscapes.
Jorge will begin the afternoon with a live drawing demonstration, offering you an opportunity to observe his process and approach to drawing outdoors. Then he will invite you to choose a subject to draw–a nearby tree, a house, a passerby!–and circulate among you to offer individual guidance, feedback, and encouragement throughout the remainder of the session.
Washington Studio School will provide a variety of shared materials, including drawing boards, paper, colored pencils, charcoal, pastels, and crayons for younger participants. Feel free to bring your own sketchbook and favorite drawing materials, if preferred. Please bring a chair or blanket for seating on the lawn.
This relaxing afternoon offers a chance to experience Rosedale in a new light, whether you are an experienced artist or simply curious to try drawing outdoors for the first time.
Rain Date: Sunday, June 14
